Oulu, Finland. The music distribution portal e-concerthouse, launched in January 2007, has renewed its contents. The visual appearance has been further developed and the services expanded. e-concerthouse focuses on live broadcasts and recordings  of classical music concerts, gathering a global community of musicians, producers and music lovers. (last edited 21.9.07).

e-concerthouse is the first classical music portal to support live-broadcasting from any location with a computer, video camera and internet access. The website was first published in February 2007, in the composition concert of Ilmari Mäenpää¹s Northern Light in Helsinki. The site is unique in two ways. It is free of charge for everyone using it. Also, it includes both chat and video chat functions, designed to build and maintain interaction among its users. The first interactive concert was broadcast 1st of March, 2003.

An e-concerthouse broadcast is easily carried out by anyone interested in participating.  e-concerthouse is created with Adobe
Flash technology, which is compatible with any computer and internet browser.

e-concerthouse has featured performances ranging from soloists to symphony orchestras and provides a service which has reached tens of thousands of people from all over the world. Educational material, a note library, and other music-related material will also be published online.

The service has been created by composer Ilmari Mäenpää and researcher Lasse Nissilä. Advertising agency Four AM is in charge of the site¹s visual appearance and functioning. The site is funded primarily with advertising. The service has been further developed in Kiiminki KIDE yrityshautomo. TE-keskus has granted investment and development funds.

During September and October e-concerthouse will broadcast several live and recorded concerts from Finland, and later this year concerts from other countries, e.g. Sweden and Italy.
